University Housing
Although the exterior echoes the surrounding gothic campus, the design also takes inspiration from art deco and colonial revival styles. The Arboretum is a beautiful place to visit regardless of the time of year. It has been improved over the past decade (thanks to generous donations), particularly in terms of accessibility with closer parking and more paved paths. In the Arboretum we enjoy the Frank Kari Walkway, a paved loop that is a nice walk even for littles, complete with many benches and ample shade in the summer months.

If the job is local to us, we will serve as the general contractor. We usually work with a local contractor in any site too far from our shop for a daily commute. We will help the client find a local contractor who knows the local building officials, and the best local subcontractors. During her involvement with the Chado Urasenke Tankokai Urbana-Champaign Association and volunteering at events at Japan House, Lindsey met Sato Sensei and formed a life-long bond though the study of tea. In her new role, Lindsey will be working to bring classes to Japan House that we have not yet been able to offer. Her addition helps to solidify Japan House as not only an important cultural and engagement facility on the campus, but also one that offers a wide range of quality opportunities to learn about Japanese Arts and Aesthetics. Japan House is a unit of the College of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It has both University classes for academic credit, as well as community classes open to the general public. Although it is not a cultural center for Japanese students, it often becomes a home away from home to Asian students because of its traditional stylings and peaceful environment. Japan House offers a variety of comprehensive classes in traditional Japanese arts for both University of Illinois students as well as community members.
We can usually tell pretty fast if this contractor is really skilled and organized or not. A good local contractor selects and works with the best sub contractors to oversee site preparation, roads, utilities, concrete work and sometime roofing and perhaps any cabinetry we don’t make ourselves.
